COURSE CONTENT
Laser training course outline:
- Laser physics and safety
- Fitzpatrick skin typing
- Patient selection
- Contraindications in laser therapy
- Desired endpoints
- Hands on training/treating

Most trainings can be completed in one full day. In some cases
doctors/nurses/technicians feel more comfortable doing training over two to
three days. Multiple days of training is recommended for offices with larger
staffs, multiple lasers, and multiple procedures.
STATE SPECIFIC COMPLIANCE
Many states have now enacted "Laser Rules" that require specific hours for
clinical and academic training. Our certification for these states will
include the appropriate number of hours for:
- Fundamentals of Laser Operation
- Bio-effects of laser radiation on the eye and skin
- Significance of specular and diffuse reflections
- Non-beam hazards of lasers
- Non-ionizing radiation hazards
- Laser and laser system classifications
- Control measures
In addition, you may be required to have the following in place at your
clinic
- Written policies and procedures regarding the safe use of non-ablative
devices
- Written quality assurance program
- Written procedures to identify complications and untoward effects of
treatments and to determine their cause
- Written mechanisms to review the adherence of delegates to standing
delegation orders, standing medical orders, and written protocols
- Written procedures to monitor the quality of non-ablative procedures
- Written procedures to incorporate the findings of the quality assurance
program
- Ongoing training to improve quality and performance of delegates on a
minimum of an annual basis
Standards for certification will vary from state to state and to provide
compliance with your state regulations. We can offer a 3-5 day training at your
location to bring you into compliance.
Most training courses will take place at your location and will begin at 9:00 a.m. until 5:00
p.m. Additional time may be required to meet the academic requirements of your
certification. A supplies list will be sent out in advance so that the client is prepared
for training. Please schedule a patients with a variety of conditions that may
be treated with the laser planned for training. We recommend that
9:00am to 11:00am be reserved for theory, equipment overview, and maintenance.
From 11:00am to the end of the day, please schedule patients every 1/2 hour.
Fees for training are based upon the laser, the modalities, the days of
training, the number of staff being trained. Travel expenses are in
addition to the fees for training.
